When He's Ready to Cheat....
I am not a big magazine reader. When I rarely do buy a magazine, I start at the back and flip through looking at each picture and mentally file away future outfit ideas. Well, on my last flight I had 6 hours with a Cosmo, and read it cover to cover. The article that stuck out the most was titled "When He's Ready to Cheat". It said that every man is tempted to cheat almost daily, and it gave you tips on how to prevent your significant other from doing so.  It went on to say that when your man meets an attractive new girl that his testosterone levels rise. This could be a new co-worker, friend, one of your friends *gulp, or some one he meets in passing. The advise was to raise his levels yourself on a continual basis so that when these other women come around he associates that positive feeling with you not them. The tips were pretty basic: Lingerie, Cooking Dinner, Gifts, Surprises, Etc.
Okay here is my problem.. This stressed me the F out! So you're telling me every time a guy sees a hot woman their testosterone levels are raised? Um... They are everywhere! So how in the heck does one counter act this? Walk around daily in La Perla Lingerie, while cooking, cleaning, and complimenting their mans every move? Eff It... Go cheat.. I'm too tired for all that.
The other articles were equally as stressful. There were testimonials from girls who's BF's left them for their best friends, his girlfriends, etc. Not only did they have these endless depressing stories but the magazine provided ways for us WOMAN to prevent these scenarios. Maybe it's just me but ladies..  You do not need to change yourself to "Keep his attention" I promise you, a confident, non-affected by petty insecuritys, strong woman will breed the healthiest, happiest relationships.... Nuff Said.

Um ya, I kind of hate articles like that. How bout you both just love each other and trust each other and be happy?

It's so bad.. as if there wasn't enough pressure on women in general to worry about being perfect?!

Glad to see you can spot that article for exactly what it is- BS!

Amen to that girl! I'm usually a fan of Cosmo, but what a degrading article for women. Its as if we were not to do these things, that it is basically our fault that they cheat. Well if thats the case, then those other girls can have those men! I'm gonna rock out in my sweatpants...and my husband is gonna love me all the same:)

Perfection is exhausting and unattainable. I read some studies that talked about how men who cheat/stray end up going for someone who doesn't keep them on their toes. If you fall into mundane routines, stop being a confident woman and adhere to his every whim like a slave then you are headed for disaster.

That being said, relationships take work. I think keeping things exciting like cooking nice meals and wearing fun lingerie only adds to the excitement of a relationship and breaks you out of a comfort zone. So I do agree with them on that level. But the moment you become an insecure, self-depricating and paranoid woman they will go running into the arms of someone else and it won't just be allegations.

Cosmo makes me want to throw up %99 percent of the time. & I agree with Stephanie's comment completely!

there are some really good guys out there. i know that to be true. and ones that value a real relationship. Cosmo just has a skewed view of how women should behave.

I stopped reading Cosmo because I feel like it's a bible for insecure girls that need sex and fashion advice.

Just my two cents!

PS love ya too Misty! xo

Even if you just baked pumpkin pie in pink lace lingerie! And if friends are hooking up with boyfriends--well then they weren't friends to begin with! lol good post.. i love cosmo but sometimes they overdo it with their articles

love you writing this! I am such a avid Cosmo reader but sometimes I do wonder about their "adive" and I just love the way you said and I need to keep remembering that when I do find a boy of my own ;-)
